Purposeful practice

Youth basketball training in Los Angeles

Skills Training and Team Practice give young athletes time to strengthen their fundamentals, practice with purpose, and apply what they learn through play.

The approach

Clear instruction.
Plenty of touches.

Good training should be active, encouraging, and easy to understand.

Players work through purposeful repetitions in dribbling, passing, and shooting. Team Practice builds on that foundation with small-sided games that give players opportunities to make decisions and compete together.

Choosing basketball

What fits your player—and your family?

Think about what would make the next six to twelve months a good basketball experience for your child. Use these questions to start a conversation with your player and Coach Green.

Development goals
What does your player want to improve? How could the dribbling, passing, and shooting activities support those goals?
Competition and role
What level of challenge suits your player? Ask Coach Green how playing time and player roles are handled for the activity you are considering.
Culture and experience
What helps your child feel comfortable learning and playing with others? Talk about Coach Green’s expectations for effort, supporting teammates, and positive language, and ask your child what matters to them.
Costs and commitments
Does the published schedule and location work for your family? Ask whether there are any additional costs or travel commitments beyond the listed training fees.

Playing time, player roles, additional costs, and travel commitments are topics to discuss with Coach Green before deciding.
